1 Hazard overview
An operational main railway line runs immediately beyond the rear boundary of the site. Entering railway land or approaching the boundary creates a risk of serious injury or death and may constitute a criminal offence under UK law.
2 Boundary controls
A fence is in place along the railway boundary. The fence is a safety barrier and must not be climbed, interfered with, or approached for play or recreation.
3 Strict rules
- Do not climb on the fence or any nearby structures.
- Do not play near the fence or throw items over the fence.
- Do not attempt to cross the boundary or enter railway land for any reason.
4 Supervision and group briefing
All groups are reminded on arrival that the railway boundary is out of bounds. Group leaders remain responsible for ensuring participants understand and follow this rule and are supervised appropriately.
5 Reporting and emergency response
Any incident, near miss, attempted access, or damage to the boundary fence must be reported to Centre staff immediately. In an emergency, follow staff instructions and contact emergency services where required.
6 Enforcement
Breaches of this policy will be treated as a serious safety matter. The Centre may end a stay or require individuals to leave where behaviour places anyone at risk. Incidents will be reported to the relevant authorities, including British Transport Police.
