1 Health & Safety commitment

The Centre is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all visitors, staff and volunteers.

Health and safety arrangements are reviewed and updated as required.

2 Fire safety
  • Fire detection and alarm systems
  • Emergency lighting
  • Clearly marked escape routes and signage
  • Evacuation procedures communicated on arrival

Visitors must follow all fire safety instructions and evacuation guidance.

3 Risk assessments

Risk assessments are maintained for building areas and facilities.

Visiting groups must complete their own activity-specific risk assessments and follow their organisation’s safeguarding and safety as well as all safeguarding and safety rules of the Centre.

4 First aid and incident reporting

First aid provision is available on site.

Accidents and incidents are recorded and reviewed. Serious incidents will be escalated where required.

5 Food hygiene and kitchen use

Where catering is provided, food hygiene standards are maintained in line with environmental health requirements.

Groups using kitchen facilities must follow site guidance for safe food handling and kitchen operation.

6 Specialist activities (Climbing Wall & Archery)

The indoor climbing wall and archery activities are delivered by qualified Centre instructors when booked as part of a programme.

  • Participants receive a structured safety briefing.
  • Equipment is inspected before and after use.
  • Sessions are supervised and access controlled.

Visiting group leaders remain responsible for supervision and behaviour of their group members.

7 Responsibilities

Visiting groups retain responsibility for supervision of young people, behaviour management and group welfare.

The Centre retains responsibility for the safety and maintenance of the premises and safety-critical systems.

8 Review

This Health & Safety Statement is reviewed annually and updated sooner where operational or legislative changes require it.
